Last night’s workshop, held at All People’s Garden, was the first of a series of Rat Workshops that will be offered by the heath department in Bronx and Manhattan Land Trusts’ gardens (Check out a news article about last night’s workshop here). These workshops provide information on how to inspect, prevent, and respond to rats in your gardens and neighborhoods. Furthermore, these workshops touch on garden-specific issues, like how to keep compost piles from attracting rats. There is another workshop coming up on Wednesday, July 6 at 7:30pm. It will be held at Clayton Williams Community Garden located at the corner of West 126th Street and 8th Avenue. Please RSVP early in order to reserve a free rat-proof garbage can. RSVP to Erica Packard at 212-228-5482, or email erica_packard@yahoo.com. Another workshop is being scheduled in July for the Bronx. The workshops are FREE.
